Several Hurt as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight Arriving in Sydney, Australia
A number of individuals have been injured when a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. A number of the onboard staff required medical attention.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they assessed five patients, and transferred a trio to hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised back pain and migraines. Those affected ranged from their 30s to 70s.
This marks the latest incident of planes experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.
There were nearly 250 travelers and fifteen staff members on the wide-body jet, the official noted, adding that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.
Paramedics said they received a call just a mere three minutes prior to the plane landed, and response teams were standing by on the runway.
