Similar to the recent storm hit the north-west the prior day, Manchester City blew Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 victory for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that truly announced their title credentials as they reinforced their position at the league summit.

Consecutive Defeats for Manchester United

This scoreline represented back-to-back league defeats for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since spring 2024, leaving them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

United’s capacity to manage domestic and European football with a small team has been a frequently analyzed subject since they secured entry to the UCL. Reviewing the schedule, it always appeared this was the period that would seriously challenge this fortitude. After failing to overcome any side who placed above them in the prior term, City's side now have wins against the Gunners and United to put them in a favorable situation after nine matches.
