It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
